Borrowing upon the name of the Red River Gorge in their area, GORGEous Gals is an economic development and mentoring initiative for teenage girls and women of Nada, a small town in one of the poorest U.S. counties. Paula Settle, a CBF self-funded field personnel coordinates the project.

For Charlene Governor's Scholar for 2010 and was one of the 2011 high school valedictorians. Afreshman at Morehead State University, she is the first person from Nada to attend college.

Invite the GORGEous Gals to come to your community for a "tour" that would include other churches and groups so that they can tell their story and sell their earrings.

Host a reverse mission trip – if you are holding an International Women's Day observance, why not invite a group of GORGEous Gals to be your guests for the event? Plan to provide for their transportation, housing, and meals. Including them in other events unique to your setting will help expand their worlds and yours!

Mira Zivanov and her husband Sasha minister to persons from Bosnia, Slovenia, and Croatia, as well as Roma women. The Zivanovs, CBF self-funded field personnel,work in partnership with local churches.

Assemble welcome bags for new refugee women (contact Mira for content ideas).

Provide simple gifts for 8 March (International Women's Day) which is a very special day for these women. Friendship bags with a nice lotion, lip balm, fingernail clippers, emery board(s), bookmark, hair accessory, nice pen, warm and fuzzy socks, and hard candy; other items may be added too!

Western North Carolina (WNC) is home to tens of thousands of immigrants from several countries (such as Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova) which were within the former Soviet Union. WNC Slavic Ministries, Inc. works together with the local Slavic community, seeking to show Christ's love to Slavic immigrants in the Western North Carolina area by helping meet their physical and spiritual needs as they assimilate into life in the United States. Please enclose a note card with the name and address of the individual, group, and church who prepared any of the following items.

For new Slavic families as they adjust to life in the United States; learning English, finding employment, health needs, and homesickness.

Decorated door wreaths – any season but not holiday-specific. Please include a door hanger.

Small dental kit – in a one quart zip lock bag place: 1 toothbrush, 1tube of tooth paste, and one package of dental floss.

Crocheted or knitted caps and scarves for women and children.

Gardening kit– into a 2 gallon zip lock bag place: one pair of ladies gardening gloves, trowel and/or bulb planter, hand cultivator (three prong), and 1 pack of bulbs (the ladies really like Dahlias, Gladiolas, or Cockscomb seeds).

Welcome kits – there are six kits (tool, hygiene, house cleaning, children’s craft kit, and health care kit) which are given Slavic Families when they move into their first apartment. These are listed with suggested items for each kit on the www.wncslavicministries.org Website.
