8 March celebration with teachers in Chisinau and global partner Yulia (r) in 2011[/caption] March 8 has been set aside every year since the early 1900's as International Women's Day (IWD). It is observed worldwide by celebrating the achievements of women and increasing awareness of their conditions globally. For GW, International Women's Day is a day to focus on our global partners and the women in their programs. Doing so helps us learn about and pray for the women affected by Global Women's five initiatives: sex trafficking, clean water, maternal health, education and/or economic development. For a list of our 2015 global partners, visit our website or refer back to your fall 2014 VOICES. Photos and stories of our global partners and their programs can also be found in previous blogs.
Want to honor a special woman in your life this IWD? When you donate to GW we will let her know of your thoughtfulness.
